McCain not so weak on the economy

When you think McCain-Economy, maybe this picture enters your mind. McCain is scared stiff of the economy. At least, that's what the media tells us.
The truth is, this is just an outmoded carry-over from the primary season (granted, not yet completely over). When you compare McCain with an economy guru like Romney or even a long-time governor like Huckabee, McCain's lack of familiarity stands out like a sore thumb. McCain, the economic neophyte, took several solid hits during the primaries on account of this weakness. The hits connected, but the knockout never came. In the end, his war-rhetoric won out, and now he's the all-but-certain nominee.
Now we face a general election with the Democrat nominee being either Clinton or Obama, with Obama seeming more certain every day. And frankly, vis-a-vis Obama or Clinton, McCain looks like Alan Greenspan. Twenty-odd years as a U.S. Senator entails a little economic training. A little is a lot more than none. And Obama and Clinton have a statistical nothingness of economy experience.
Republican leader, Mitt Romney, echoed this sentiment in interview with Sean Hannity aired today on FOX. This is from the POLITICO transciption.
I think [Obama] is the better match-up for Senator McCain because the public recognizes just how inexperienced he is," Romney said. "With Senator Clinton there is some confusion in perception that somehow being there while her husband was president made her a foreign policy-national security experienced person. She is not. She doesn't have any more experience, really, of a significant nature than Barack Obama does. But in Barack Obama's case, people recognize this guy was a state senator and before that he was a community activist. He has been a United States senator for a short, short period of time. He is in no significant way qualified to lead the country at a time of war, to lead the country out of an economic challenge. This is not a person who can stand up to Senator McCain.
In the same interview, Romney enthusiastically admitted that he would accept an offer to run as VP. McCain might accept this "dream-team ticket" if the pressure is strong enough, and if his denchers can stand the clinching-- it certainly wouldn't do anything to harm his ostensible economic mala fides.
